The picture on the left, sometime around 1980, looking to the southwest
shows the small peninsula along McCall Road (State Road 776) southwest of The Gardens of Gulf Cove. McCall Road was
just a small two lane road at the time. In the center is where the County Recycling Center is now. Home Depot
would be just to the right. The picture on the right shows Gulf Cove Point sometime around 1985.
Gulf Cove Point was built in 1984 by General Development
Corporation which then formed The Gulf Cove Point Homeowners Association, Inc. which is governed by a 7 member Board of Directors.
In the beginning the Board of Directors was comprised of GDC personnel until it turned over the control to a 7 member Board
consisting of home owners. Being a Deed Restricted Community our board needed professional property managers to guide
our association to comply not only with our Covenants and Restrictions but the laws of the State of Florida and Charlotte
County. Over the years we have gone through several management firms. Around 1998, as more of our owners became
more permanent residents, our Board of Directors took a more active roll in the day to day operations of our association.
At that time the roll of the professional management company was scaled down as the Board assumed more of the day to day business
of running the association. Our current management company has seen to it that we are one of the most solvent associations
in the State of Florida. |
